Everyone should have a personal statement of faith. Everyone. I don’t care if you are a brand, new believer or a seasoned veteran who has attended hundreds of sermons and spiritual retreats. If you can't verbalize it, you don't have one. A statement of faith should be personal and unique. It can be as simple as, “I believe everything that is in the Bible” or “I believe that Jesus is God’s son and He died to save me from my sins.” It can be a Bible verse you’ve memorized like John 3:16. It can be a recitation of The Apostles Creed.
What is YOUR statement of faith? I'd love to publish it here - with credit or anonymously. Go to the "Contact Us" page and use the form to send it to me. Or, email me direct at: [email protected]
Here's what I've got so far:
In myself, nothing;
in God, everything.
is the gaze of a soul
upon a saving God.
I earnestly expect and hope
that I will in no way be afraid,
but will have sufficient courage
so that now, as always,
Christ will be exalted in my life.
For me, to life is Christ,
and to die is gain.
1. I have a saving faith.
2. My faith is alive.
3. I am transformed.
4. I believe all of God’s promises.
5. I am God’s friend.
6. I surrender to God’s Will.
7. I am part of God’s Agenda.
8. I am God’s Chosen.
9. I am blessed.
10. My faith defines who I am.
(JUST SOME OF) God's Promises
Transformation: Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17
Care: Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Luke 12:28-28
Correction: For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12
Forgiveness: If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. Matthew 6:14
Guidance: For I hold you by your right hand I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. Isaiah 41:13
Love: For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love. Psalm 5:12
Plans: For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6b
Protection: For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory! Deuteronomy 20:4
Security: The Lord is my light and my salvation so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Psalm 27:1
God’s Way: God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 2 Samuel 22:31
God’s Word: The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever I Peter 1:24-25
Our Abilities: Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
Faith: If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. Luke 16:10
Fears: Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Future: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
Salvation: Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. Acts 16:31
Strength: My power works best in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9b
Peace: I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
Wisdom: For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. Proverbs 2:6-7
Eternity: For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Decisions: - "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8
Failures: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.“ 1 John 1:9 -
Needs: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-- whatever we ask-- we know that we have what we asked of him.“ 1 John 5:14-15 -
Comfort: He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:4
The Deer's Path
The Deer’s Path[i]
I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me…
From everyone who shall wish me ill, afar and anear,
Alone and in multitude.
Christ to shield me today … so that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lay down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every person who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

This World is not Conclusion.
A Species stands beyond --
Invisible, as Music --
But positive, as Sound --
It beckons, and it baffles --
Philosophy -- don't know --
And through a Riddle, at the last --
Sagacity, must go --
To guess it, puzzles scholars --
To gain it, Men have borne
Contempt of Generations
And Crucifixion, shown --
Faith slips -- and laughs, and rallies --
Blushes, if any see --
Plucks at a twig of Evidence --
And asks a Vane, the way --
Much Gesture, from the Pulpit --
Strong Hallelujahs roll --
Narcotics cannot still the Tooth
That nibbles at the soul --

The Apostle's Creed
The basic creed of Reformed churches, as most familiarly known, is called the Apostles' Creed. It has received this title because of its great antiquity; it dates from very early times in the Church, a half century or so from the last writings of the New Testament.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.

Psalm 63 New Living Translation (NLT)
A psalm of David, regarding a time when David was in the wilderness of Judah.1 O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.
6 I lie awake thinking of you,
meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.
